The toy company joined global tributes to the beloved naturalist with a beatiful message: “There’s no age limit for those who never stop playing.”

LEGO has celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday with a playful tribute, updating its familiar age range from “4–99” to “4–100+” in honour of the legendary broadcaster and naturalist.

The company shared an image of a LEGO Classic box with the revised age label alongside the message, “Updated for you, Sir David.” In its birthday post, LEGO wrote: “Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough. There’s no age limit for those who never stop playing.”

The tribute quickly spread online, where fans praised the gesture as a warm and humorous nod to Attenborough’s milestone birthday. The joke plays on the long-running age guidance printed on some LEGO packaging, which has often been listed as suitable for children and adults up to 99 years old.

Sir David turned 100 on May 8, 2026, prompting tributes across Britain and beyond for a broadcasting career that has spanned more than seven decades. Reuters reported that Attenborough said he was “overwhelmed” by the birthday wishes, as the UK marked the occasion with BBC specials, concerts, museum events, nature walks and tree plantings.

Attenborough is widely known for landmark natural history programmes including Life on Earth, The Blue Planet and Planet Earth. His work has helped bring wildlife filmmaking into homes around the world and made him one of the most recognisable voices in environmental storytelling.

The LEGO post was one of many public tributes marking the centenary. The Guardian reported that celebrations included a BBC One event at the Royal Albert Hall, messages from public figures and scientific honours, including a newly discovered parasitic wasp species being named after him.
